Enco aka “Encodesgem” is a performer, a painter, a digital experimenter, and sometimes an actor.
The artist spoke: My process is as versatile as my choices in life, I don’t feel very well about being stuck on a technique if there’s not a noble reason to do it this way. My techniques are liquid and most of the time I feel like I’m not intelligent, I’m just sensitive, as Clarice Lispector once said to Maria Martins in a conversation: “The external influence has little to do with his art, not because the matiere consists of art pour le art or quell que chose comme ca, but because the intention of the work is the materialization of a feeling.”
The attention is always put on the scan of the body, each feeling is deeply interlinked with an organ, lungs with sadness, liver with anger, kidneys with fear, spleen, and pancreas with worry, and so on. In previous works, this process was lineal, anything conceived automatically appeared on the screen as an organ, the works were somewhat entrail portraits.
Launching on Aura, the series Elegance explores the same intention and the same attention with a different process that drifts on a different form. Spots, brushstrokes, strokes, oil painting, a photo, zbrush, blender are the tools used. There is a mixture between the physical world and the digital world on the work, that is exactly what this platform works on.
The term Elegance that shapes this works arrives from the shelter this attribute gives to the person that carries it. In this sense, the series works, with its cold colors, as a space of safety for the artist and seeks to do so for anyone that gets in contact with it. Enco paints not only with his hands but also with his mouth, or any other part of the body, so it’s important to note that these works acquire a character of expiration exercises, as well as a performative tonality. The slogan: detox your feelings.
Finally, a touch of color. We met with Enco virtually, I asked him about his hobbies and he told me about his love for PlayStation, particularly with games of a personal shooter. “It’s so nice to die and reborn, it’s so delightful to have this experience”.
Enco is Enrico Moscatelli, born in Guararema (São Paulo — Brazil) live and works in Guararema and São Paulo, worked on music videos like Pabllo Vittar — Buzina, advertising videoss, Aura, performed in Milan, Paris, and Berlin and its currently working on ascending in the digital art and contemporary art worlds.
