Aura started as a dream to have an NFT platform created exclusively for visual artists. The journey has many paths and point of views, but I will tell you mine in a few words.
Last February two of my friends started talking about NFTs, one of them told me: “You should investigate the NFT market, I’m sure it will be of interest to you.” At first I was curious, I worked in the physical art market for many years due to my family being in the business and I thought “hey, why not?” and so I started exploring some NFT sites. I soon realized what was missing was: serious content and curatorship surrounding the visual artists works. Aura would need to create a link between two worlds.
I imagined: “what if we could create a platform just for visual arts? A place where we could connect curators, investigators and art historians with the new generation of artists. What if we could bring digital and physical artists from the past together cooperating with foundations or members of the artist family and let a new generation of collectors know this grandmasters and their legacy?”
Nowadays it doesn’t matter if it’s physical or digital; humanity has thousands of forms of expression. What does matter is the aura of the artwork, and that can be felt through any medium, be it oil, stone or pixels.
I’ve met all my partners from Aura in a magic way, it was destiny, and everyone in the team worked very hard for this. After many months and thousands of hours of work we are finally opening our marketplace and applications for everyone. Also, October the 4th is the official launch with Eduardo Pla exhibition drop curated by Merlina Rañi.
We have many surprises to come and a lot of work to continue doing. Aura will have new curated exhibitions dropping every monday. We will keep improving the platform and bringing new functionalities and tools. Right now you can lazy mint unique and printrun tokens and mint in ETH. Our programming team will start working on bringing cardano smart contracts to the platform towards the end of the year.
